About Me

The Higher Ed Blogging blog is primarily a resource for university academics interested in using social media and blogs to enhance and promote their own courses.

This blog is run by David Allen, a Digital Marketing Manager at the Faculty of Performance, Media and English at Birmingham City University.

In other words, this equates to managing the digital communications for Birmingham’s School of Media, Conservatoire, School of Acting and School of English, as well as training staff to use social media.

David heartily enjoys writing in the third person, and you may know him from such disparate projects as Animation Forum West Midlands, Gamer Camp, Birmingham City University’s iTunes U project and articles such as this one. He is @BrummieDave on Twitter.

  1. Hi David,

My name is Ogi from FirstSiteGuide and just came across your post at http://blogt.bcu.ac.uk/higheredblogging/2012/10/10/fight-wordpress-vs-tumblr/ where you clearly suggest WordPress over Tumblr.

The reason I’m emailing you is that I just released a guide to a blogging success, titled, “How to Start a Blog” with the help of many authority bloggers. So far I’ve got a lot of positive responses from my followers. Since you are a blogger too, I thought you might be interested to see it:

I would be honoured if you would take into consideration our in-depth guide that contains WordPress video tutorials for all the needed steps and point your readers to it, in addition to your existing link?

I really hope you will find it handy and help me spread a word about it!

    Best Regards,

    Ogi Djuraskovic
